It sure is! After going through chemotherapy for breast cancer I became extra UV sensitive and could not go outside without wearing full UV protective clothing and 50+ sunscreen. Even then, I would still develop a mild sunburn because the store bought sunscreen wasn't effective. I started testing multiple homemade sunscreen products until I developed this formula so cancer couldn't steal my sunshine! It worked so well for me, I wanted to share it with others.

All of the ingredients in MamaB’s Natural Sunscreen are organic except one. Zinc oxide is a mineral and is natural. The FDA requires a UVA/UVB sun blocking ingredient from their list. Therefore, we chose to use zinc oxide since it is natural.

Organic Suncare and Suncare+ are both moisturizers. Neither of them contain zinc oxide, but they still provide protection from the sun at 40spf. Suncare+ contains candelilla wax, which makes it water resistant.

If you get a sunburn, because you didn't reapply or forgot to wear your sunscreen, or you missed a spot, use our Suncare or Suncare+. These two products can heal a sunburn in a about half the time. The ingredients in them are healing to the skin.

Suncare+ is very helpful for your skin during the winter season too. It creates a protective barrier from the winter elements. and holds moisture in. As well as, helping to prevent dry, chapped skin in the cold.

First, if your child is under 1 year old or it will be the first time in the sun, consult your doctor before using any sunscreen.

Second, if you are concerned about allergies, you should always spot test on your child or yourself prior to using any new product. Then, simply follow the directions on the jar, applying evenly to any exposed skin, and reapply the sunscreen every 2 hours that your child is still outside.

Small children should wear cotton long sleeved shirts and other protective clothing to protect their delicate skin from sunburn. Use sunscreen on skin not covered by clothing. If your child is extremely sun sensitive, you may consider putting sunscreen on under their clothing for extra protection. Especially if it's their first time out in the sun. MamaB's sunscreen products are generally safe for children 6 months and older.

Whatever scent you choose, a sugar scrub will leave your skin feeling soft and smooth. The brown sugar is a little stronger smell than the oils in it, but the affect of the oils still do their job on your skin.

Sugar Scrub Tips:

It is safe to use an organic brown sugar scrub 1-2 times per week (every 3-4 days).  Organic brown sugar is strong enough to scrub away dead skin cells from rough elbows and feet, and make way for the healthier, glowing skin to show through.  It's not magic, depending on your rough spots, it may take more than a weeks' time.  You will love the results.  

YFL gives you a redwood spoon with your purchase to apply your sugar scrub. Use the redwood spoon to get the correct amount. One spoonful will cover your whole arm and hand. (to give you an idea of how much to use) Use a half spoonful for your entire face, neck, and lips. Apply to your clean, wet, skin gently rubbing in a circular pattern. Allow it to set on your skin for at least 2 minutes. Then rinse off with warm water. The sugar will melt somewhat as you apply it to your skin. It will not melt completely. The redwood spoon is reusable. When finished, put a dot of soap on it in the shower, rub it around, and rinse it off. You can keep the spoon with the jar in the shower.

If any water gets in the sugar scrub, tilt the jar enough to allow the water to drop out of it, and not the sugar scrub, before you put the lid on. Water, in any product, will cause mold and bacteria to grow. Using the spoon will help keep the water out of it.

When using a sugar scrub and exposing new skin cells, always wear sunscreen when going out into the sun.  You do not want to have your new skin cells damaged by the sun.  

Caution: Do not use sugar scrubs on damaged skin such as open wounds or sunburned skin.  Damaged skin is already growing new skin cells.  Using a sugar scrub on damaged skin will damage the new skin cells. 

-Remember, you are using oils to soften your skin and it can make the tub slippery if you use too much and drop some.  Put a little liquid soap on the bottom of your tub when you are finished, move it around with your foot, and rinse the bottom of the tub so it will not be slippery.
